Money In / Money Out
How real-world value enters and exits the Sprawl economy.
Money In / Money Out
All real-world value in Dyson Sprawl flows as USDCx (Superfluid streaming USDC) once the live settlement layer is enabled.
Bootstrap threshold
Settlement streaming does not begin until 100 tiles have been claimed (the Phase 1 → Phase 2 milestone). Before that threshold, frontier auctions and resource mining operate normally, but maintenance, Harberger acquisitions, and USDCx streaming are inactive. Auction proceeds accumulate in the protocol treasury during this period.
Money In
Two continuous auction channels feed the protocol treasury:
- Land auctions: new frontier tiles sold continuously, paid in USDC or ETH (converted to USDCx on entry)
- Unit auctions: army spawns sold periodically when the military layer is active, same currency path
Auction proceeds go directly into the protocol treasury. Payable faction-creation proceeds also route into the treasury/native mainframe bounty pool rather than remaining in the registry.
Money Out
Treasury value is reserved for protocol-level mainframe bounty/victory flows and fixed crown rewards.
A faction that controls the six-point outer crown may activate a fixed protocol stream by passing a patch through its recorded faction statute. The patch can only choose the destination GDA pool. It cannot choose the amount.
The split is intentional:
- The protocol controls whether the stream exists, the fixed rate, crown-gating, and stop rules.
- The controlling faction controls downstream redistribution by managing the selected GDA pool's membership and units.
- If crown control breaks, anyone can stop the active stream immediately.
Declared value / tax weight remains available for Harberger acquisition pressure and future routing rules, but it is not a treasury distribution share.
Why this works
The protocol treasury stays simple: incoming value accumulates for game-level objectives, while temporary crown control creates a visible faction-side advantage without letting the faction set protocol spend.
This creates a cleaner loop:
- Auctions bring capital into the treasury.
- Productive licences and armies drive strategic pressure.
- Crown control turns frontier dominance into a fixed, revocable reward stream.
- Factions compete not only to hold the crown, but to define who benefits through their own GDA pool policy.
Sustainability
The system is solvent as long as treasury-funded streams are fixed, revocable, and bounded by live crown control. Long-term health depends on continuous land expansion and army activity sustaining auction frequency.
Reasoning trace
- The cashflow model should distinguish ordinary productive activity from temporary hegemon income.
- Crown rewards belong in the money-flow diagram because they are treasury-native streams, not abstract prestige.
- Factions should control redistribution policy, not protocol emission rate.
